TCU forward Kouat Noi has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.
Noi, a 6-7 sophomore from Newcastle, Australia, averaged 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds across the Horned Frogs’ victories over Texas and Florida last week. He recorded 15 points against the Longhorns before dropping 22 points — including a trio of three-pointers — vs. Florida in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Saturday. Noi’s 11 rebounds against Texas also gave him the first double-double of his career.
Noi’s honor comes a week after the forward was battling flu-like conditions. Noi did not play during TCU’s road trip to Kansas State on Jan. 16 and had a fever of 103-degrees several days prior, according head coach Jamie Dixon.
Noi is the first TCU basketball player to take home the Big 12 Player of the Week honor this season. He is averaging 14.7 points per game this season, the second most of any player on the team.
The Horned Frogs return to action Monday for a road contest vs. Texas Tech. Tip-off is scheduled 8 p.m. at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock.
